Deliberately shallow rib — 10.5 mm — built to run cool and roll free.
Trailer tyres do not drive and do not steer; they carry and they roll. LS653 is specified accordingly: 10.5 mm of tread on the trailer sizes, roughly 60 % of what the drive pattern carries. Less rubber means less heat build-up and less rolling resistance on a free-rolling axle — which is where trailer tyres actually fail. A 14 mm all-position build covers lighter rigs.
